Supporting our employees

Workplace Intiatives

United Way workplace campaign
Each year, CWB Financial Group employees come together to display their community spirit and raise funds for United Way. This essential community organization offers programs, support and leadership to non-profits and charities working to make our communities a better place for all. Through special event fundraising, employee pledges and corporate matching, CWB gives over $300,000 to United Way agencies across western Canada each year.

Week of Caring
Inspired by our employees' desire to give back to their communities, CWB hosts an annual Week of Caring initiative. For a week, employees are given two to three work hours to volunteer in their communities. Since this program began in 2017, employees have volunteered over 3,400 hours through activities such as meal service, donation sorting, food bank support, building maintenance and seasonal outdoor clean-up. Not only was this a benefit to society, but to our working teams with 89% expressing they greatly valued the experience.

Employee Matching Program

Each year, CWB employees volunteer thousands of hours to organizations, causes and events they know will positively impact their communities. From raising money for the United Way to cleaning up the environment to delivering food hampers to the less fortunate, our employees are committed to the causes they care about. We support them wholeheartedly in doing so with two matching grant programs:

Employee Volunteer Grant
This program supports the personal community work of our employees by providing a donation to the causes they care about. CWB employees who spend 30+ hours volunteering in any given year are awarded a $300 grant for the charity of their choice.

Funds for Fundraisers Grant
This program supports employee-led fundraising for registered Canadian charities by awarding matching dollars toward pledge-based activities. Employees can apply for an individual grant up to a maximum matching contribution of $250, while teams of employees can access up to $5,000 in matching funds based on the number of CWB participants.
