CALGARY, August 23, 2011 – Canadian Western Bank (CWB) and the Calgary Drop-In & Rehab Centre (DI) further strengthened their long-standing relationship yesterday through CWB’s sponsorship of an employee “Volunteer Day”. A total of 21 employees from CWB’s Calgary branches chose to participate in this volunteer experience which involved a tour of the DI’s downtown facility and an opportunity to serve lunch to DI clients.
In addition to the employee “Volunteer Day”, CWB recently made a $30,000 donation to the DI’s Sundial apartments which provide affordable housing opportunities to vetted DI clients. Located in downtown Calgary, Sundial has 119 suites in close proximity to transit, shopping and essential services. Sundial offers resources and support to help tenants re-integrate themselves into mainstream society.
“We’ve been a proud supporter of the Calgary Drop-In & Rehab Centre for years,” said Glen Eastwood, CWB’s VP & Regional Manager of the Prairie Region. “Our recent decision to increase volunteer efforts at the DI was largely in thanks to interests raised by our employees. Their involvement in this initiative is greatly appreciated and it reflects CWB’s commitment to making our communities stronger, healthier and more sustainable. We look forward to our continued partnership with the DI and the support of its causes.”
