EDMONTON, June 6, 2013 – Canadian Western Bank Group (CWB Group) (TSX:CWB) is pleased to donate $100,000 to children’s hospitals across its key markets in celebration of its 100th consecutive profitable quarter.
“Attaining consistent profitability every quarter for 25 years is a tremendous accomplishment for CWB Group, and a big part of our celebration is to give something extra back to the communities that have been integral to our success,” said Chris Fowler, President & CEO. “As an organization, we’re committed to making communities stronger, healthier and more sustainable, and this contribution will certainly have a positive impact in this regard.”
Last month, CWB Group employees were asked to place their vote for the charitable cause to which they most wanted the donation to be directed, and children’s hospitals was the clear winner. The donation will be distributed based on the number of employees located in each province within CWB Group’s main geographic footprint (British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario). Selected hospital foundations will receive an unrestricted donation to be spent in an area of significant need.
“Sick and injured children will always need the specialized care provided by children’s hospitals,” said Teri Nicholas, President & CEO, BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. “We’re very fortunate that CWB Group’s employees understand the need and have the desire to help children across Canada. This corporate gift and the ongoing support of CWB Group and its employees in BC will have a direct positive impact on the lives of thousands of children.”
“The Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation is extremely grateful for CWB Group’s generous support. This funding commitment will have a positive impact on the lives of many Stollery Kids and their families. From cutting-edge research and life-saving medical innovations, to enhancing the overall patient experience at the hospital, The Foundation is committed to investing in excellence at the Stollery. It’s because of the generosity of community partners like CWB Group that we continue to provide the best family-centered care to those who need it most,” says Mike House, President and CEO, Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation.
In total, six organizations will benefit: BC Children’s Hospital Foundation ($33,000), Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation ($29,000), Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation ($20,000), Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan ($5,000), Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba ($12,000) and SickKids Foundation ($1,000).
