Second flagship banking centre to better serve Edmonton's south central business owners

Canadian Western Bank’s modern new two-storey banking centre stands tall among the stores and restaurants that fill the business corridor between Gateway Boulevard and Calgary Trail.

The Edmonton Gateway Banking Centre is the newest CWB brick and mortar location for small and medium-sized business owners and the city’s second flagship location after Edmonton Main on Jasper Avenue near 124 Street.

It also mirrors the organization’s approach to banking in a physical way – it puts the client at the centre of its full-service model by bringing the expertise of its former South Edmonton Common and Old Strathcona sites together under one roof at a more accessible address to better serve the growing south-central area.

“The new Edmonton Gateway Banking Centre is not only a state-of-the-art building, more space at this location also facilitates a larger and deeper team to better serve our clients with one integrated team under one roof,” says John Steeves, Senior Vice President, Prairies Region.

Uniting members of CWB’s cash management and commercial banking, personal banking, wealth management teams, and other specialized areas like real estate financing, clients can have multiple banking needs supported at one stop. And whether they’re engaging in-person or virtually, clients can easily interact with diverse CWB teams that reflect different service pillars.

“It’s very much a hub of expertise, services and products,” says Jason Zaichkowsky, Senior Assistant Vice President and Market Lead for the Edmonton South District. “When clients enter the building, not only are they welcomed to a modern space with a colourful mural designed by a Team Teal member, they also experience a very different feel than at other banks. It’s called a banking centre for a reason – the openness, the meeting rooms, the collaborative spaces, the comfortable seating areas for talking. It buzzes with banking knowledge and a willingness to help that’s all focused on the client.”

The banking centre is designed with both sleek sophistication and approachability in mind. Its two levels include a second-floor glass deck that, when pandemic times are in the rear-view mirror, can be used for entertaining and nurturing a sense of community at a bank that’s best known for its emphasis on high-touch relationships.

“While right now it’s a little quieter within these walls with some team members on site and some still working from home, there’s almost a sense of giddiness among employees about this space,” says Zaichkowsky. “They’re really excited about it and how it reinvigorates a spirit of coming together to serve our clients.”

The Edmonton Gateway Banking Centre is currently open Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and clients can find it at 10333 – 34 Avenue NW.
