In response to unprecedented fires that have brought devastation to communities in British Columbia and the Northwest Territories, CWB Financial Group will donate $25,000 to support immediate relief and recovery efforts in these regions. The donation will be distributed to the Canadian Red Cross’ Northwest Territories Fires Appeal and British Columbia Fires Appeal, and to the Central Okanagan Food Bank.
“Fires have brought widespread destruction, displacing families, causing evacuations, and disrupting lives and local businesses,” said Blaine Forer, Senior Vice President of CWB’s BC Region. “CWB recognizes the urgency to provide support during these challenging times. This donation will play an important role in helping affected individuals and businesses get access to the essential supplies they need, so they can rebuild and recover.”
Kelowna Banking Centre: Support for clients and resuming in-person service
CWB’s Kelowna Banking Centre continues to stand by our clients, providing remote and limited in-person support, and is actively working to resume regular banking centre operations. Online banking, ATM and night depository access continue to be available. Relationship managers are proactively reaching out to clients who may be affected by the fires to understand the impact and provide support and other assistance as needed. Financial support will be managed on a case-by-case basis to ensure the solution fits with the client’s immediate and medium-term needs. CWB banking centres will be accepting public donations for the Canadian Red Cross from August 22 to September 12, 2023, or you can also donate online at redcross.ca. The Government of Canada will match donations made to the Canadian Red Cross to support the disaster relief efforts.
